Biddenham War Memorial

Biddenham has a war memorial in the centre of the village. It is prominently displayed close to St James’ school. A ceremony takes place every year in November during Remembrance Day (11th November).

The Memorial is located in the heart of Biddenham village, featuring a compact Celtic cross mounted on a three-tiered pedestal. It commemorates ten individuals from World War I and three from World War II. The dedication ceremony took place on May 18, 1922. The structure was constructed by Messrs. S W Jarvis & Son, with design work by Frederick Landseer Maur Griggs, one of the finest and most respected etchers of his time.

The Memorial is inscribed with the following words:

TO THE GREATER GLORY OF GOD
IN PROUD MEMORY OF
MEN OF BIDDENHAM WHO DIED
FOR THE HONOUR OF THEIR
COUNTRY 1914-1919
