Young market vendors in Bedford sell fresh fruits and veg grown in school garden.

Local school children will swap their classrooms for the market as they sell fresh, school-grown fruits and vegetables to the public for a good cause.

The sale will take place on Wednesday, July 2, from noon to 2 PM at Bedford Market.

This initiative, called Young Marketeers, is organised by the charity School Food Matters. It provides children with the chance to grow food from seed with guidance from expert gardeners, and then harvest and sell their fresh produce to the community.

Additionally, the children have been learning to prepare a variety of simple, budget-friendly dishes using their vegetables, thanks to a collaboration with Food etc., an organisation in Bedford that teaches essential cooking skills to the community.
