Harry was born in Barnet and brought up in Finchley North London.
He came to Bedford in 1978 to teach law at the then Bedford College of Higher Education and later
moved into practice with two local firms of solicitors C. C. Bell & Son and Palmers Solicitors LLP being
a partner in both firms. He ceased practising in 2018.
He was a long standing member of the board of Provincial Hospital Services Association (a local
private medical insurance company) and chairman up to the time of its amalgamation with a larger
organisation.
In addition he is a past president/chairman of: Bedford Rotary Club, the Bedfordshire Law Society,
the Surveyors 1921 Club, Bedford Round Table, Biddenham Rugby Club (also a player for 14 years)
and is a member of the Rotary Club of Bedford Park.
He has been married to Sue since 1983 and they still live in the house in Queens Close that they
bought when they married. They have two grown up children.
