Bedford Summer Sessions: Supergrass, The Coral and Willie J Healey
12 July @ 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Bedford Park is set to host a standout night of live music with a triple-header featuring Supergrass, The Coral, and Willie J Healey—three acts that each bring something special to the stage.
Supergrass are one of the defining British bands of the 1990s, hailing from Oxford and bursting onto the scene with their debut album I Should Coco in 1995. Their sound is a lively mix of punk, pop, and Britpop, driven by catchy hooks, energetic guitar riffs, and Gaz Coombes’ distinctive vocals. Hits like “Alright” and “Caught by the Fuzz” capture a sense of youthful freedom and irreverence, and their music remains as vibrant and engaging as ever, with the band recently reforming and celebrating their classic album with a major UK tour.
The Coral emerged from Hoylake on the Wirral Peninsula, making waves in the early 2000s with their self-titled debut album, which earned a Mercury Prize nomination and widespread acclaim. Their music blends indie rock, psychedelia, and folk influences, creating a sound that’s both nostalgic and fresh. Tracks like “Dreaming of You” and “Pass It On” showcase their knack for memorable melodies and inventive arrangements, making them a favourite for festival crowds and rock fans alike.
Willie J Healey is a self-taught singer-songwriter from Oxfordshire whose music has evolved from early guitar-driven tracks to a more funk-infused style on recent albums like Bunny. Healey’s songs are honest and heartfelt, drawing comparisons to artists like Neil Young, and his live performances are known for their warmth and charm. He’s shared stages with the likes of Gaz Coombes, Florence + the Machine, and Arctic Monkeys, and his latest work has earned praise for its creativity and accessibility.
This lineup promises a night of memorable performances, with each artist bringing their own energy and style to Bedford Park—making it a must-see for fans of great British music.
